Gaudi's version of La Sagrada Familia.

18 spires total.

12 spires for the Apostles.

4 spires for the Gospel writers. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

1 spire dedicated to Mary, The Morning Star.

1 spire dedicated to Jesus. This is the largest and tallest spire in the will rise to 172.5 meters (565 feet).


The Crypt. The crypt was started with Paula Villar, reconfigured, the alter moved, added a stairwell, and completed. The crypt is in the neo gothic style.

1926. Shortly after the one spire dedicated to Apostle Barnabas was is completed, Antoni Gaudi was hit by a city tram (train) and would subcomb to his injuries a couple of days later.  



1930


1933. Nativity Facade is completed.


1936. The Spanish Civil War took place between 1936 to 1939 The war was against Franco's fascist forces, The Republicans (Leftist), and the Anarchist, who dislike religion and government. During the war, the anarchist broke in and destroyed as much as they could. Sagrada Familia was not immune. They broke in and destroyed plans and models that Gaudi created for later architects to follow. It would take architects 16 years to place all the plans together from already published works of the church to continue construction.
